Why does South Korea keep asking for compensation and apologize from Japan for Comfort Women?
In recent years relations between south Korea and Japan have deteriorated over a bitter historical dispute.
Activists in South Korea say Japan should apologize again to the comfort women referring to prostitutes from World War 2.
In 2015 Japan apologized again and both countries have signed a final and irreversible resolution but still the activists continue seeking to install statues all over the world to incite hate toward Japan why does this dispute never seem to go away.
Part of the reason is money the main activist group known as the Korean council receives millions of dollars in funding from the South Korean government they have also raised more than seven million dollars in private donations in recent years.
Yet barely 2.3 percent of all that money is spent on surviving comfort women many of whom live in deplorable circumstances instead most of the money is stolen and diverted by opportunists and fraudsters like Yoon Mi Hyang Yoon is now a member of the national assembly and a close ally of President Moon Jae-in but in her former role as head of Korean Council she was the ultimate Comfort Woman.
She is now on trial facing criminal charges for all the money she stole from Comfort Women what did she do with these embezzled funds she bought a luxury apartment she paid her daughter’s university fees in the U.S.
She used the stolen donations on galbi Korean barbecue restaurants massages and shopping trips but Yoon isn’t the only one conning the grandmas according to media reports a couple sitting on the board of the Korean council has swindled more than 2.5 million dollars by selling statues some of which have ended up in the United States many Koreans are furious with Yoon former comfort woman Lee Young Soo said Yoon is guilty of a crime and that she and other comfort women will no longer be used by the greedy activists and yet so far nothing has been done to stop all this theft.
Yoon has refused to resign her seat in the national assembly. President Moon Jae-in and her allies in the ruling party have been silent on the issue the question we should all be asking is why can’t south Korea seem to get past this issue despite so many apologies’ treaties and settlements perhaps it is because they don’t want to after all with millions of dollars flowing into the activists pockets why would they want to solve the problem.
It’s time to call them out South Korea’s activists don’t care about the comfort women they only care about themselves.
